Midsummer’s Day

Sweden celebrates a very old tradition called Midsummer’s day in June; this year it takes place June 23. Stockholm residents often celebrate in the countryside, which means that the city will be emptier than usual  the weekend when ICHIC begins. Take the chance to participate in the official midsummer celebrations in Stockholm e.g. at Skansen open air museum – their celebrations continue the whole weekend!

Weather

Stockholm usually has nice and sunny weather in the end of June, with temperatures around 20-25 °C during the day, and cool nights. Note that we almost have midnight sun this period, with daylight approximately 3.30 to 22.00. While this is absolutely delightful, it can cause sleeping problems for some.

Travelling

Stockholm is easy to reach whether you’re travelling by public transport, by car or by air. The night train Hamburg – Stockholm is recommended as a sustainable alternative for participants from Europe. The central station is in the center of Stockholm and connects directly with the subway system.

If you travel by air, you can take Arlanda Express directly from the terminal (north stop at terminal 5, south stop at terminals 2-4) to Stockholm central station. The train ride is 20 minutes and the trains leave every 10-15 min. Buy the ticket online or in machines at the terminal, more info and time tables available at Arlanda Express.

The conference will be held in the Magnéli Hall, Arrhenius laboratory, Universitetsvägen 12 A, Campus Frescati, Stockholm University, which is easily reached from the city center by public transport (subway red line towards Mörby Centrum or by bus).
